Single Superstar + John nineteen forty-one. From "Jesus Christ". MKS 5019. MCA UK. 1969. UK

Después de varios meses sin publicar nada, volví a postear algo debido al arribo de este single. ¿ De que se trata?, es el single con el cual probaron la fortuna del proyecto "Jesus Christ Superstar". Según lo que indica Tim Rice en una de las numerosas ediciones en DVD de la película, el año 1969 el sello MCA quiso probar que tan exitoso podría ser este proyecto de estos jóvenes ingleses que querían poner en un disco varias canciones sobre la vida de Jesucristo en sus últimos días, bajo la mirada de Judas. La forma de probar si esto iba a ser exitoso fue editando este single, por un lado el tema "Superstar", y por otro lado Juan 19:41.

El tema del lado A fue bastante exitoso en los rankings ingleses como para que el sello MCA les diera el OK a los compositores para grabar el resto de la obra. Lo que vino a continuación es historia conocida, el disco fue editado en Inglaterra, posteriormente fue editado en USA en donde el disco tuvo una fuerte repercusión, tardaron semanas para que el disco alcanzara el número 1 de las listas, se montara como un musical, en Inglaterra también se montara como musical, fuera llevado a la pantalla grande y para que finalmente esta obra conociera cientos de versiones distintas alrededor del mundo.

Y al volver a los orígenes, al single que decidió la suerte de esta obra,  uno se lleva un par de buenas sorpresas. ¿Cómo cuales?, si bien estas dos canciones fueron incluidas en el disco editado el año 1970, esas versiones fueron regrabadas, siendo distintas a las incluidas en este single original. En el tema Superstar la diferencia mas notoria es que acá el coro femenino lo hace la agrupación The Trinidad Singers, grupo que posteriormente no participa en la versión discográfica de esta canción, y el lado B contiene una primera versión de la pieza que cierra la Obra, y que ahí se las dejo para que se sorprendan al igual como me sorprendí yo cuando puse el single en la tornamesa hace una hora atrás.

Como les comenté en el post anterior, encontré este programa dando vueltas por la Red. Entre Noviembre y ayer he ido bajando mas programas, y se me pasaron varios. Finalmente tengo varios descargados, pero las fechas se me confunden, pero bueno, iré posteando según los encuentre en mi computador.
